Preliminary Task Evaluation

When filming our Preliminary task we found it fairly easy to work out a plot to what we were going to film. Two members from my group were the actors within the task and I was the person that filmed. I found it quite straight forward and wanted to involve as many different types of shots and angles to make it interesting to watch and not boring with the same continuous shots.
One of the shots which I included straight away was the panning shot of one of the actors walking to his chair. With this we used after editing a cut from the direction we were filming as we moved from a different angle. 



We included quite a bit of editing within our filming task, one being a fade. This fade effect was used to show how a period of time passed, so that the conversation between the two actors could take place, and wouldn't look strange if we then cut straight to showing the conversation, which we used a shot-reverse-shot included so that the conversation looked more realistic and we could see both the actors faces and their expressions.

 We also involved an action match within the video, for when the newspaper was being thrown into the bin. This went a lot better than I expected it to turn out, as I thought we wouldn't have been able to shown the newspaper being thrown successfully and thought that when we placed the shots together it would have turned out looking a bit strange all placed together.

Another thing that I thought went well was the shot-reverse-shot that we placed in the scene between the two actors. It looked affective and worked as we didn't break the 180 degree rule so therefore it looked well.
A problem that we encountered whilst filming our preliminary task was the acting itself, it wasn't as strong as it could have been which I felt was the only thing that let the actual task down. Plus next time we film, we need to work on placing our camera in angles where it looks more natural and realistic for a camera to be so that when we come to editing it together it looks more affective and flows better rather than the slight jumps which you can see.
